MUSIC PREPARATION
OVERVIEW
We use exclusively Finale by Coda Music Technology (in its latest version) as a music engraving tool. Finale is the best known and the most powerful and flexible among the many music notation programs in the market today. After years of Finale use we have never come across a situation we could not tackle. Nevertheless, we are happy to see the diversity of programs expand itself and if tomorrow a software that rivals Finale in its completeness, speed, and flexibility is created, we will be glad to endorse it. We have no business affiliation with Coda.

With the large array of music notation programs today claiming to be easy to learn and to use, you may ask yourself; "Why engage the services of a music copyist for my music preparation?"

First, only a person who has mastered a program and has experience using it can take full advantage of its capabilities. Such person would avoid the pitfalls and lunacies often generated by computers. Second, it is also important that the copyist be a musician well versed in the intricacies of music arranging, orchestration, and composition. When you engage our services your score will be handled by Nicolas, an experienced music copyist and composer. He has copied all types of music, from a single instrument to a full orchestra, and from popular to classical music. That is, he is someone who knows how music should be notated and who will look at your score "the old fashioned way". He will make sure that your finished score and parts are free of all types of errors and imperfections; for example, wrong notes, missing dynamics or articulations or phrase marks, out of range passages, and incorrect transpositions.

Finally, the inconvenience you want least is having to revise your script multiple times to eliminate oversights that may or may not be significant. We will spare you unnecessary worry and time by following carefully your specifications and respecting your deadlines. When Bob Brookmeyer asked us in a rush to prepare one of his unique Big Band compositions and extract the parts for a studio session, he sent along with the manuscript a short note warning Nicolas that his handwriting might be confusing and to contact him if questions came up. But each illegible note, each missing articulation and dynamic, was treated appropriately. No telephone calls to Bob were needed about his handwriting, and the document was ready on time and without errors.

At BL Music you'll have the peace of mind that your music will be handled with the most care and professionalism. You will save more than time and money. We guarantee it.
